Clogher Valley made the long journey to Wexford to renew acquaintances with an Enniscorthy side who they had played in AIL2C two seasons ago, Enniscorthy having followed Valley up to AIL2B last year.

Conditions were the same as when they last played at Alcast Park. Heavy rain and strong swirling winds. Difficult for any type of running rugby.

A cagey opening saw both sides struggle for territory. After 11 minutes the deadlock was broken when the Enniscorthy full-back fielded a high kick inside his 22. Nothing seemed to be on, but he broke tackles from advancing Valley players and after slick interchanges with colleagues, helped by poor Valley tackling, led to the first, unconverted, try of the game. 0-5.
