Tyrone up and running under O’Rourke

Tyrone are off the mark in the Malachy O’Rourke era, with the new boss getting off to a winning start in the Ulster derby clash with Derry at O’Neills Healy Park.

A late flourish saw the Red Hands take control, hitting 1-4 without reply to take both points from their opening Allianz League Division One tie.

Michael McKernan fired in a first half goal, and it was full back Peter Teague who scrambled home the second to set the home side on their way to victory.

A crowd of over 6,000 witnessed a lively performance from a Tyrone side that still has some quality players to return from injury and from Errigal Ciaran’s All-Ireland adventure.
