Clogher Valley travelled to just north of Dublin to win their fourth match on the road on Saturday.
Skerries are located on the coast of the Irish Sea undoubtedly a lovely area in the Summer time but in the first weekend of December maybe not. Strong winds and squally showers were frequent visitors as the match progressed.
For the opening 15 minutes, against the wind, the Valley was in control and it was obvious that the dominant Valley scrum would play a vital role in proceedings.
They pressed hard for an opening but the Skerries defence was up to anything that was asked of them. Eventually though Skerries paid a visit to the Valley half and converted a penalty to take an early lead.
On the half hour mark great work by the backs gave the visitors a chance. Five metre scrum to the Valley, it edged slowly forward for Callum Smyton to touch down with David Maxwell adding the extras.
