At 9am on Saturday, an army of volunteers descended on the Cran to get the place in shape for the afternoon proceedings.
Leaf blowers cleared the lines of snow before marking took place while others attempted to get power in to the building.
A generator kindly loaned by W D Bothwell was attached and at least the players would get a shower.
By kick off, the snow had mostly cleared but it was still bitterly cold as the teams took to the stage.
The Valley started well but gradually the big Sligo pack took control with the Valley scrum under early pressure. Both lineouts were functioning well despite the increasing wind.
Chances were few and far between with some incredible defence a feature of the half.
