Niamh Marley marks Ravenhill debut with try

Dungannon winger Niamh Marley rounded off her Ravenhill debut with her first try for Ulster but Saturday’s spirited comeback against Connacht wasn’t enough for the northern province to end their long winless streak.

The women in white haven’t won a single game in the interprovincial competition for more than a decade and things looked grim when they trailed 20-0 at the interval on the back of being beaten 34-0 by Munster the previous week.

But skipper Beth Cregan bagged a brace of tries to create a sense of fresh hope and the home team got great encouragement from a vocal crowd who generated a real atmosphere on what turned into a wet afternoon at Ulster headquarters.
