South Tyrone Indoor Bowling League have just one match still to be played and that completes the fixtures for the 2022/23 season.
Killyman Parish v Crosssdernott will play their final Section A match on Tuesday 21st February. Although first place is not in doubt, we will let the result decide the final placings further down the table.
Section B had a very tight finish with final points - Moygashel Rec 195, and Sandholes just two points behind on 193. Meanwhile, Section C winners Tullanisken had a total 161 points and in second place Brackaville with 137 points.

Carland hosted Newmills for the return match in Section A last Monday 13th February. The match got underway and Carland put the first points on scoreboard on mat one. Ends were closely contested but it was Carland that moved ahead under skip Mark Kennedy. The score ended Carland 5-2 Newmills.
On mat two, Charlie Clarke (Newmills skip) and his team threw some great bowls and moved ahead into an early lead in the game. Carland gained a shot in the second end, but it was Newmills that dominated scoring the rest of the game. Final score in the game ended Carland 1-7 Newmills.
The next run of the mats saw Newmills push further ahead. Newmills delivered some excellent shots which left Adam Dyche (Newmills skip) in a great position six shots ahead going into the fourth end. Carland’s skip Roy Kelly and his team gained three shots in the final end to finish the game Carland 4-12 Newmills.
Over on mat two, it was Lester Burnside’s (Carland Skip) turn to try and keep Newmills at bay. The game was very tight with only single shots scored in most ends, but it was Newmills’ Charlie Clarke and team who gained a single shot in the final end to draw the game 4-4.
After the midway point in the match, Mark Kennedy (Carland Skip) took to mat one to face Raymond Brown (Newmills skip). Newmills won the first end, but Carland bounced back in the second. Each end was fiercely contested with excellent bowls thrown by both teams. It was six shots all going into the final end, but it was Newmills who gained a shot in the last end. Final score Carland 6-7 Newmills.
On mat two, James Shaw (Newmills skip) and team got off to a good start opening with three shots. Carland came back to lift single shots in a couple of ends but the fifth end saw Newmills gain five shots with no way back for Carland. Final score of the game ended Carland 2-11 Newmills.
The final set of games of the night got underway. Newmills opened the scoring on both mats. On mat one, Newmills took a significant lead and were eight shots up halfway through the game. Carland fought back but once again the ends were well contested by both teams. Both teams bowled well in the remaining ends, but Carland couldn’t overcome Newmills’ early lead. Final score in the game Carland 4-8 Newmills.
Mat two saw Newmills win the first end, but it was Carland’s turn in the game to push ahead in the scoring. Well placed bowls by Lester Burnside (Carland Skip) allowed Carland to gain shots in the remaining ends of the game. The game ended Carland 7-1 Newmills.
