A campaign group pressing for major improvements to a killer stretch of road in Co Tyrone has welcomed the news that a public inquiry is to resume next month.

The A5 Enough is Enough group is calling for the construction of a long-promised dual carriageway to replace the dangerous road between Aughnacloy and Omagh.

Forty four people have lost their lives on the notorious A5 since 2007, and a scheme to make the route safer has repeatedly been shelved.

A5 Enough is Enough campaign chair Niall McKenna has welcomed confirmation that the Public Local Inquiry into the A5 Western Transport Corridor Road Scheme will recommence in Omagh in May.
