A Coalisland woman is to stand trial in an alleged stabbing case which she claims was an act of self-defence after being attacked by her partner.

Patricia Ann Lappin (32) from Torrent Valley, Coalisland is charged with unlawfully and maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to the male on 14 May this year and the matter is aggravated by reason of domestic violence.

When first charged a detective explained police responded to a dropped 999 call in which a disagreement could be heard fighting before a male voice said, “You’ve stabbed me”. The call ended but Lappin rang back stating, “My boyfriend has beat the f*** out of me.”
