Major conservation works have been completed on the two historic towers at the Hill of The O’Neill in Dungannon.

The project, which represents an investment of £115,000 by the Council, was carried out with the support and guidance of the Department for Communities’ Historic Environment Division (DfC HED).

In the eighteenth century, a prosperous businessman, Thomas Knox Hannington, built himself a grand house on the site. The towers, all that remains of the building are recognised as listed historical monuments of significant cultural and architectural importance.

In recent weeks, they have undergone carefully planned restoration designed to protect their structural integrity and ensure their long-term preservation.
