NI WATER has issued a warning to the Dungannon public over the dumping of baby wipes, fats and oil grease in sewers which led to a spill in a local river.
The company confirmed a sewer spill into a local watercourse in Dungannon was caused by a blockage of baby wipes, and fats, oil and grease in the sewer.
And it is appealing to the local community to bin their wipes and use their sewer system correctly.
However, a Dungannon Councillor Clement Cuthbertson, who reported the raw sewage spillage to NI Water and the NIEA, said it was not an isolated incident and has called for a proper investigation along with a comprehensive plan of action to be put in place as matter of urgency.
