A WOMAN from the Dungannon area has spoken out about the “devastating” impact of waiting over nine weeks for a ‘red flag’ breast cancer appointment, far exceeding the NHS’s two-week target for urgent referrals.
Despite her GP’s assurance that she would be seen within 14 days, the 52-year-old was informed she faced a wait of more than two months, prompting her to contact Health Minister Mike Nesbitt’s office directly.
In response, she received a letter citing “demand and workforce issues” as the reason for the delay.
