Call for work on A5 dual carriageway to begin as Public Inquiry concludes

The report of a Public Inquiry into a proposed upgrade scheme for the notorious A5 road has been completed and is currently being considered by the Department for Infrastructure.

And Tyrone GAA passed a motion at its annual convention, calling for work to begin in 2024 on the construction of a dual carriageway between Aughnacloy and Londonderry.

Almost 50 people have been killed on stretch of road between Aughnacloy and Londonderry in the last 15 years, and the GAA launched a campaign calling for a major upgrade earlier this year.
