Omagh CBS 1-18 St Patrick’s Dungannon 1-12

Omagh CBS completed back-to-back Dankse Bank MacRory Cup triumphs with victory over St Patrick’s Dungannon in a Tyrone derby final.

The holders led for the majority of the game, and with sharpshooters Ruairi McCullagh and Liam Og Mossey in clinical form, they finished strongly to dash the hopes of the challengers.

With several survivors from last year’s successful side involved, CBS held a strong advantage in terms of experience over an under-strength Dungannon side that was forced to field without two of its key players due to injury.

Team captain Fiachra Nelis and Sheehan Fay were both ruled out by broken wrists, but their team-mates battled heroically in their efforts to get the better of a superb Omagh side.

Conor Holmes grabbed a second half goal as the Academy came from five behind to close the gap to a single point, but the defending champions hit back with a fortuitous goal of their own to bring the momentum back in their favour, and they had the finishing power to see the game out.
