NORTHLAND Surgery looks set to be saved after it emerged a number of expressions of interest in taking over the practice have been lodged with health authorities.
Multiple formal applications have been lodged with the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) in taking over the stricken Dungannon surgery.
The GPs at Northland Surgery, based on Cunninghams Lane in the town, stated in October their intention to hand back their contract to provide general practice there, sending the practice’s 9,000 plus patients into limbo.
Spiralling patient numbers were cited as the chief reason for that move.
The practice served a six month notice period to the HSCB, which expires on 31st March, 2019.
Fears had arisen that nobody would come forward to express interest in taking over the surgery, but the HSCB has confirmed to the Courier, they have received expressions of interest.
