THE funeral will take place this morning, Tuesday, of long-serving Dungannon SDLP Councillor Mr Vincent Currie.
Mr Currie, who was 65, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with illness.
He had represented the Dungannon area on the former Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council for 26 years, between 1985-2011.
He was a brother of Austin Currie, one of the leading figures in the civil rights movement in Northern Ireland.
Mr Currie’s funeral will take place today (Tuesday) at St Malachy’s Church, Edendork, followed by burial in St Manchan’s Cemetery, Boher, County Offaly.
Renowned as an articulate and gifted orator and dedicated representative of his community, figures from various parties joined to pay tribute to Mr Currie.
